NZ Landcare Trust CEO Dr Nick Edgar attended the International RiverSymposium in Brisbane last week and was proud to be part of the launch of the new alumni network.

At the conference dinner the Riverprize Alumni Network was launched. This is a network of all regional and international Riverprize finalists and winners from across the globe. The Riverprizes have been awarded for the past 20 years but 2019 is the first time an alumni network of these river management professionals has been established.

The NZ Landcare Trust won the inaugural Morgan Foundation NZ Riverprize In
2015 and Nick has been working on the steering committee to establish the alumni network over the past 18 months.

International Riverprize Alumni Network Launched

“It was fantastic to be part of the launch event at the conference and to be a facilitator for a session on the next steps with the alumni over the year ahead. At present there are approximately 80 members of the alumni but the intention is the establish a larger network of river leaders from across the globe”.

“It is great to have the backing of the International River Foundation board and staff as we develop this network to support world wide river management efforts” Nick says.
