NZ Landcare Trust’s work programme is funded by the Ministry for the Environment and the Ministry for Primary Industries. We also secure and complete a series of additional projects each year. In each of the regions we are located, we work closely with regional and district councils, agencies and stakeholders, as well as those on the ground – farmers, lifestylers, and passionate landowners and community members who want to work collaboratively for the future of the land and waterways in their region.
In 2022, we launched the Westpac Water Care Project to help support small catchment groups in the community. In 2024, we launched Junior Landcare in conjunction with the Bupa Foundation. This programme will provide young people with opportunities to actively contribute to environmental solutions through a series of nature regeneration projects and resources. In 2025, we partnered with Fonterra’s Doing Good Programme on the Regenerating Wetlands initiative. Together, we aim to restore, enhance, and create wetlands to improve ecological health while providing lasting benefits for the community.
