The NZ Landcare Trust aims to map as many Catchment and  Environmental Community Groups across Aotearoa New Zealand as we can. By knowing who is working where, and the nature of the work, stakeholders can better distribute resources for those of us working to make a tangible difference in the future of New Zealand’s waterways and landscapes.

To add your Catchment or Environmental Community Group to the Interactive Map, please e-mail the following information to the Coordinator in your region, or to our communications team.

  1. Group Name
  2. Key issues addressed by your group
  3. Focus areas
  4. Region
  5. Level of establishment (Pre-establishment/Early Stage/Mid Stage/Well established)
  6. Legal Status (Yes/No)
  7. Contact Person to be added to the Interactive Map
  8. Contact Email
  9. Contact phone
  10. Website, FB Page or other social media site
  11. For Catchment Groups, please attach a Shapefile of your group (See details below)
  12. For Environmental Community Groups, attach an image of the group’s location, or address. You can use the Interactive Map to find the location (Find address or place)

Shapefile of your Catchment Group

We use the ESRI/ArcGIS platform to create and maintain the Interactive Map of Catchments and Environmental Community Groups. You can send your Shapefile in any of the following formats, compatible with ESRI/ArcGIS

  • A Shapefile (.zip, ZIP archive containing the shapefile for your entire catchment. No separate small catchments please)
  • A KML file (.kml)
  • A GeoJSON file (.geo.json or .geoson)

Please make sure your file is compatible with ArcGIS before exporting the file.
